KRC opened its doors in 1983 to provide a much needed space for Korean Americans to come together; debate and dialogue, educate and support each other on the issues of the day. The organization has grown through the years as an integral part of the Korean American community. With a goal of bettering the lives of Korean Americans, KRC has effectively mounted successful campaigns that have resulted in victories such as the restoration of SSI and Food Stamps for low income immigrants, the passage of AB540 and the California DREAM Act. KRC’s grassroots organizing efforts has produced the Alliance of Korean American Students in Action and Community Health Promoters, mobilized young and old, and turned out tens of thousands to the polls on each Election Day. KRC provides a range of culturally competent services and programs reaching over 11,000 low income community members including the health access project, naturalization clinic, low income tax clinic, homeownership and foreclosure prevention counseling, and summer youth empowerment program. KRC works hard, day in and day to empower its community and on Thursday, May 16, we hope you can show your support for its successes and accomplishments. The 30th anniversary dinner will be held at the Center at the Cathedral, located at 555 West Temple Street, Los Angeles. It will be a time KRC friends and family to celebrate and forge a powerful social justice for the years to come. Funds raised will support KRC general operations and some of the funds will be allocated to support special growth and development projects.
